Aalto yliopiston teknillisen korkeakoulun BIT tutkimuskeskus kutsuu teidät pohtimaan palveluliiketoiminnan operatiivisia haasteita sekä akateemisesta näkökulmasta että yritysmaailman edustajien kanssa. Palveluliiketoiminnan erityispiirteet korostuvat nykypäivän verkostomaisessa liiketoimintaympäristössä, jossa tiivis yhteistyö kumppanien, toimittajien, alihankkijoiden, asiakkaiden ja kilpailijoiden kanssa on sääntö eikä poikkeus. Tapahtuma on maksuton ja avoin kaikille.

Palveluliiketoiminta - muutos ja menestys -seminaari
Keskiviikkona 26.5.2010, klo 9.30 - 15.00, VTT:n auditorio, Vuorimiehentie 5, Espoo.
Palveluliiketoiminta - muutos ja menestys -seminaarissa pohditaan palveluliiketoiminnan rakentamista teknologiayrityksissä ja muutosta tuotekeskeisestä kulttuurista asiakassuuntautuneeseen kulttuuriin. Seminaari peilaa palveluliiketoiminnan organisoinnin ja johtamisen tutkimusta käytännön ratkaisuihin yrityksissä. Tarkoituksena on auttaa osallistujia löytämään uusia positiivisia tapoja saada johtamistaan ihmisistä enemmän irti murrostilanteessa.
Seminaarissa julkistetaan VTT:n tutkimusprofessori Raimo Hyötyläisen ja erikoistutkija Maaria Nuutisen toimittama Mahdollisuuksien kenttä. Palveluliiketoiminta ja vuorovaikutteinen johtaminen -kirja. Kirjan artikkelit perustuvat Tekesin ServO - Interactive Organization and Management in Service Business -hankkeen tuloksiin.

Organising for services growth and productivity at Caterpillar, USA - a guest lecture by Professor Tim Baines, Cranfield University
March 24, 2010, Aalto University, Espoo, Finland.
BIT Research Centre and Aalto University present the leading service science expert, professor Tim Baines from Cranfield University, as a guest lecturer on an event organised in the premises of Aalto University.
Western manufacturers are being continually forced to develop new and innovative ways to compete with producers from lower cost economies. One strategy is to strive towards services-led competitive strategies (often known as servitization). Services offer a growing source of revenue and resilience for many industrial companies; the challenge is to deliver these effectively and efficiently. Professor Tim Baines from Cranfield University will describe in detail how Caterpillar (CAT), a world leader in the design and delivery of services to support its products, is building its services business.
Very few academics, worldwide, have managed to persuade CAT to collaborate in their work. In spite of these challenges, Cranfield researchers have developed such a strong relationship with CAT that Professor Tim Baines was invited to undertake a secondment (09/2009-01/2010) where he could experience first-hand what it takes to be successful in delivering advanced services. The secondment was supported by a Global Research Award from the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK).
Professor Baines'es lecture will include a description of the broad range of services that are offered, the relationships between risks and revenue for these, the motivations behind offering more advanced services, and some of the principle technologies and practices that are so critical to success. The presentation will pay particular attention to the role of technology and relationships. The lecture will conclude by presenting some of the broader challenges that face UK manufacturers when attempting to compete through services, and outline current research that is tackling some of these issues.
