Welcome to the BestServ Forum website. BestServ Forum is research and development forum for industrial service business. The foundations of the forum are in BestServ-prestudy concerning the opportunities of service business for Finnish industry. The main purpose of BestServ Forum is to operate as a knowledge sharing and learning network for exchanging knowledge and experiences between industry and research.
The vision: World Class industrial service business is a competitive advantage of Finnish Companies in Global Markets. Services boost industries’ international growth and success.
30 leading Finnish industrial enterprises participate in the Forum among Technology Industries of Finland and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. In the beginning of year 2005 BestServ Forum has initiated an extensive research program with the leading professors and researches of the field as participants.
The goals of BestServ Forum
The main objectives of BestServ Forum are as follows:
- To exchange experiences, cases and knowledge in service development domain both in domestic and international fields.
- To activate and direct the reseach and development activities in service business field. This includes enterprise- and enterprise group projects as well as research projects.
- To present and create reference models and frameworks for service business development and management. These include life-cycle concepts, business models, organisation models and technology architectures.
- To support the development of industry and new service innovations.
BestServ Forum activities
Forum –meetings (3-4 per year)
- Mini-seminar and workshop days for Forum member companies.
- Presentations by member companies, research institutes, invited guests and round table groups. Strong practical emphasis.
- Networking over industry sectors, and between practitioners, academics and consultants plays a very important role.
- Major benefit: Established peer network of industrial service professionals and researchers.
RoundTable groups (3-6 running all the time):
- Three main types of RT’s: [a] Best practices sharing RoundTable; [b] Service delivery chain -oriented RoundTable; [c] Visionary RoundTable; [d] Problem driven, a company CASE-based RoundTable
- Confidential work between participating BestServ companies.
- A generic report is given in a Forum –meeting.
- Lead by a chairman from a BestServ company.
- External experts, facilitators and secretaries are used based on chairman’s needs.
- Major benefit: In-depth understanding of a problem and /or solution for those who participate a RT.
Industrial Service Business Day
- Full-bodied seminar of presentations from industry, other fields of business and academics.
- Foreign guest speakers and international guru’s, the Day is in English.
- Major benefit: open networking across industry disciplines, company cases from industry and other fields of business.
